5 years later: MADI Apparel Fifth Anniversary lookbook

In 2014, MADI Apparel started with one mission: to make a difference.

When founder Hayley found out that underwear was the most under-donated clothing item, she wanted to help those in need. MADI’s mission was — and is — to donate a pair for every item sold.

Slowly, we realized that our reach could make even more of an impact. We quickly realized that the intimates industry was missing a brand that was dedicated to making an impact in every way possible. So, we widened our reach and broadened our goals.

MADI isn’t just about giving to those in need; it’s about leaving the world a little better than how we found it. We positively impact our community, our industry, and our environment through these ways:

  • Local manufacturing
  • Seamstress training and job opportunities for women facing employment barriers
  • Dedication to ethically sourced sustainable fabrics
  • Lowering our waste

In 2015, we started testing sustainable, ethical fabrics.

We needed to find the right one for our mission and our customers.

Customers who love and live in our products say that the fabric is so soft and long-lasting — many report it has quickly become their favorite piece in their drawer.

“I received my intimates and fell in love with them: soft, beautifully made and the quality is great! Besides, I really love how they help those in need so I will keep on supporting them!” — Danilla Caputo

In 2016, we launched MADI Donations.

MADI Donations is our 501c3 non-profit arm. Underneath our non-profit is a program we launched last year called MADI Makes. MADI Makes is a job-training program that empowers at-risk women to break the cycle of unemployment through education. We teach a vocational skill that is close to our heart — sewing — and put women on a path toward a fruitful career - started in-house with us! Since it’s started, we have graduated and employed two Kansas City women: Andrescia and Amanda.

In 2017, we started our line of staple basics.

Our staple basics are designed to be worn at any time — whether you’re in bed, in the field, or hitting the gym. This is part of our dedication to sustainability. We don’t believe that clothing should only fit one need; we believe your clothing should be as unique and dynamic as you are.

Shop our basics

Our basics include t-shirts, lounge pants, robes, and more. They're perfect for the beach, the spa or the baseball field. And they're all so soft that you'll never want to take them off.

In 2018, we expanded our ethical standards.

We started working with a local dye artist who hand-dips our basics and intimates to create a unique look for each piece. We want our customers to know that we are dedicated to our mission of ethical standards, that’s why we only work with companies that provide fair labor and working conditions for their employees

As a MADI customer, you can trust that your money is being put to good use and is supporting a great cause.

“Finding those out there who are Making a Real Difference is not easy. It takes selflessness and tremendous sacrifice at an incomprehensible level. Make a Difference Intimate Apparel (MADI) is making a difference in the lives of women in need and women at risk. And, the products are incredible.” — Riley Allen

In 2019, we're better together.

We are expanding into men's clothing. Our tagline for 2019 is “We’re better together” and our mission is to prove it. Be on the lookout for new men’s basics, such as joggers, briefs, and t-shirts, coming late fall.

We are so excited about this launch because it will help us reach more people in more places with our mission. Women aren’t the only ones who want or deserve sustainable basics, and we are honored to be able to bring our products to the men’s market. And, you better believe our men's line will support our initiatives to donate underwear and employ women in need!

Thank you to every customer who has believed in us from the start. Thank you to those who have shared our passion, our mission and our service to those around them. Please check out our Fifth Anniversary look book and share it with your friends, family and anyone else who you may share our values.
